Privacy policy

1. Controller

VenturePoint LLC (Limited Liability Company under the law of the US state of Wyoming). Privacy contact: hilfe@tryastrela.com.

2. No cookies, no advertising or tracking services

We set no cookies and use no third-party advertising or tracking services. We load fonts from our own server, not from a font service.

3. Visit counting

We count page views and individual steps (for example “chart calculated”) with one counter per day, event and page path. We store no IP address, no browser identifier, no cookie and no identifier that could recognize you, and no names, dates or places. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in evaluating how the site is used (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

4. Free chart

For the chart you enter your date, time and place of birth. We calculate the chart from them and send you the result (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). Your entries do not appear in the address bar; your browser keeps them only for as long as the tab is open, in session storage, so that you can open the result and the order without entering them again. We do not log birth data; it appears in no server log either, and we use no error reporting service.

5. Personal report

For an order we process the details you give: first name, email address, birth data, your answers in the questionnaire (voluntary), for a gift the details of the person receiving it, and your consent, with its time, that we begin providing the report before the withdrawal period ends. We need them to create and deliver the report and to handle the payment and any withdrawal (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR), and for statutory retention duties (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR). The voluntary answers can touch on personal topics. You decide what you write.

Retention: we keep the order, the answers and the report for three years from the purchase, so that your link to the report keeps working and we can deal with questions and warranty claims; after that we delete them. On request we delete them earlier. The link to the report is a long, random code. Anyone who knows it can open the report; the page is closed to search engines.

6. Emails

We send you the order confirmation and the report. If you expressly ask for it, we also send two reminders about your experiment. We send no newsletter. The emails are sent for us by Resend (Plus Five Five, Inc., USA) through servers in Ireland; Resend stores logs and metadata of the messages in the USA. Resend is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (Art. 45 GDPR). Resend processes the data on our behalf (Art. 28 GDPR).

7. Payment

Payment, invoicing and VAT are handled by Link, a Stripe service (for purchases from the EU: Stripe Technology Europe, Limited, Ireland). Link acts as the merchant of record for the purchase and processes your payment and billing data under its own responsibility; the privacy policy of Stripe and Link applies. Your payment details do not reach us; we learn that you paid and how much. Stripe may transfer data to Stripe, Inc. in the USA, which is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (Art. 45 GDPR).

8. Hosting

The site runs on a server of Hetzner Online GmbH (Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany) in the Falkenstein data center, Germany. When you open a page, the server processes technically necessary connection data such as your IP address to deliver the page and fend off attacks (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The server logs are overwritten continuously.

The domain and the email forwarding are run by Cloudflare, Inc. (USA). If you write to an address at tryastrela.com, Cloudflare forwards the email to our mailbox. Cloudflare is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (Art. 45 GDPR).

9. Place data

The place search works with data from GeoNames (CC BY 4.0) that is stored on our server. Your search terms do not go to GeoNames.

10. Your rights

You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection (Art. 15 to 21 GDPR). Write to us at hilfe@tryastrela.com. You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, for example the one where you live.
