The Five Types

The Authorities
In Human Design, your inner Authority is the way you make decisions.
Emotional AuthorityYour clarity grows over time, and a calm, settled feeling after the emotional wave is your guide.Sacral AuthorityYour decisions follow your gut's immediate response to the questions, offers and situations that come your way.Splenic AuthorityThe Spleen speaks in the moment, quietly and only once, and this Authority is oriented toward that signal.Ego Authority (Manifestor)Your decisions follow what you truly want, rather than other people's wishes and obligations.Ego Authority (Projector)Your will is the foundation of your decisions, but it belongs out in the world only once you are invited, and afterward it needs rest.Self-Projected AuthorityYour direction can become audible as you speak: in front of a listener who doesn't give advice, or out loud when you're on your own.No inner Authority (Mental Projector)Clarity comes from talking with several people over a longer stretch of time, as you listen to yourself while you speak.No inner Authority (lunar cycle)You don't have a body-based inner Authority, and clarity comes through a full lunar cycle, through conversation, and through being in the right place.
The Twelve Profiles
Your Profile describes the role you show up in during your life, made up of two lines.

The Nine Centers
The centers are the energy hubs in the bodygraph. Each one is either defined or open.
Head CenterYour Head produces questions and ideas on its own, and not all of them need an answer.Ajna CenterYour way of thinking is fixed and consistent, yet in this teaching it is not the mind that makes decisions.Throat CenterThe way you express yourself is consistent, and how it sounds depends on what your Throat is connected to.G CenterYour identity and direction stay steady, even when your surroundings change.Heart CenterYour willpower carries you through what you truly stand for, and it needs time to recover between efforts.Sacral CenterYour Sacral stands for life force and stamina, which come into play mostly when you respond to something that speaks to you.Solar Plexus CenterYour feelings come in waves, and for you, clarity only arrives over time.Spleen CenterYour Spleen speaks up spontaneously and only for the moment, and your Authority decides which signal takes the lead for you.Root CenterFor you, pressure arises mostly from within.
The Six Kinds of Definition
Definition shows whether and how your defined centers are connected to each other.
No DefinitionNone of your centers is permanently defined, and clarity comes through people, places and the lunar cycle.Single DefinitionAll of your defined centers are linked together: your fixed parts form one connected whole.Simple SplitYour defined centers form two separate areas, and some people close the gap between them for you.Wide SplitNo single gate is enough to bridge your two defined areas, and the two parts can at times feel like two sides of you.Triple SplitYour defined centers form three separate areas, and your undefined centers carry a great deal of weight.Quadruple SplitFour separate areas with gaps between them: each area is firmly defined, but where your center of gravity lies often shifts with the person you're with.
The 64 Gates
Each gate stands for a theme that is lived out in six lines. Here you will find all 64 with their lines.
The 36 Channels
A channel connects two gates and with them two centers. When both gates are activated, the channel is defined.
