Gate 57: The Gate of Intuitive Insight

Intuition can be clear or clouded. Either it grasps the inner meaning so that you act in time, or feelings leave you undecided. In its exalted expression, intuition opens up the real meaning of a situation, and you act at the right moment. In its weakened expression, feelings get in the way of clarity and paralyze the decision. Confusion can obscure intuition.

Being clear about the right values and ideals isn't enough. You also need the determination to hold on to them. In its exalted expression, a thorough clarification from within lets your intuition guide you toward the values and ideals that fit. In its weakened expression, the clarification stays on the surface and sweeps unpleasant things under the rug. Accordingly, what your intuition could accomplish at a deeper level stays shallow too.

How sharply does intuition perceive, and how much doubt can it clear away? For this line, only the exalted side is described; no weakened expression is given, so the picture stays deliberately one-sided. In its exalted expression, this intelligence is clear enough to chase away doubt; it brings fulfillment and makes flawless intuition conceivable.

Intuitive clarity shapes relationships. It can guide with care and create harmony, or it can take charge in a domineering way. In its exalted expression, intuitive clarity steers relationships with care, and a feel for how people interact keeps things in harmony. In its weakened expression, that same clarity slips into giving orders in relationships instead of leading.

You move forward while also checking your own course: either you build and stay alert as you reassess, or you keep going and lose your direction. In its exalted expression, you stay ready to review everything once more while you build new forms. This brings clarity about the numbers and how things are unfolding, and it lets an intuitive gift for judgment mature. In its weakened expression, a stubborn push forward loses sight of the goal, because your intuition is overloaded by the ongoing activity and can no longer judge where you stand.

Some problems can't be solved. This line asks whether you then make the best of it with ingenuity or struggle against it in vain. In its exalted expression, where there is no answer, intuition resourcefully makes the best of the possibilities it has. Clarity cuts both ways, understanding doesn't resolve every circumstance, and a difficult situation rarely lasts forever. In its weakened expression, you fall into anger and frustration when clarity uncovers a problem that can't be solved under the circumstances. This can drive you into futile action.

This cross stands for a penetrating awareness, and its name comes from Gate 57 as the Sun gate.

People with this variant are considered highly intuitive. They read others deeply and pick up something like their sound, their frequency. At its core, this intuition asks whether what it senses is threatening; it is a sense for anger that switches on instantly. It speaks quietly and only once. Hearing it takes a lot of inner stillness, and another defined center can drown it out, such as a defined mind or a Definition in the emotional center. The role it plays in your decisions depends on your Strategy and Authority.

On the Design side, Gate 54 adds ambition and the wish to be seen and supported by those higher up; the image used for this is the concubine who becomes empress. Some versions no longer treat this ambition as worldly. Read spiritually, there is the possibility of finding a connection, through intuition, to powers beyond everyday life; that is not promised.

As a Right Angle Cross, it stands for a purpose that concerns your own path. Other people enrich it but do not fundamentally redirect it. You grow into it by following your Strategy and Authority; it is not fate.

In this Juxtaposition Cross, the Design side carries inner truth (Gate 61) and precision in the details (Gate 62). People with this cross run very deep.

What they sense in others, they mostly keep to themselves. That is how they protect their relationships, and their voice rarely gets through. To put it with a wink: they often wait until old age to say what they held back for decades.

The gate of the Personality Sun gives the cross its name and colors the other three gates, whose themes show up through it.

The Juxtaposition Cross is rare, and it is a fixed path of its own, like a train on its tracks. Someone who spends a long time with you can get pulled into this path along with you. You grow into it; it is neither fate nor a demand.

In the first variant of this cross, with the Sun in Gate 51, the message arrives as a shock. With the Sun in Gate 57, on the other hand, it is purely about intuition.

Here, intuition is more likely to be revealed under pressure than offered freely, because Gate 57 carries the fear of what your own actions may lead to. Through the fifth line, people with this cross are credited with bringing news and practical solutions; when the request comes, they share their intuition right away. People come knocking on their door whether they like it or not, because others count on them to have something decisive to say.

According to the teaching, the sixth line is mainly available to others in the period between the Saturn return and the Chiron return, and its objectivity is aimed at giving others something steady to hold on to. Later it lives by intuition and can set an example simply by being what it is.

As a Left Angle Cross, it is fulfilled in being with others, whose influence can noticeably change your path. You grow into it; it is not a prediction.
