Authority

Splenic Authority

The Spleen speaks in the moment, quietly and only once, and this Authority is oriented toward that signal.

You have a defined Spleen, and your Solar Plexus and Sacral Center are undefined. Only under these conditions is the Spleen considered your inner Authority. It occurs in Manifestors and Projectors; roughly one in ten people decides this way. The decision comes out of the moment, without any reasoning behind it, and it doesn't explain itself later either.

The Spleen speaks only once. If you override the impulse, it doesn't come back. Because it isn't a motor, it speaks quietly. The mind is quick to push it aside. You feel it as intuition, sometimes also through smell or taste: a subtle knowing of whether something or someone is right for you. It is considered the oldest instinct, geared toward survival and well-being, and it speaks up, for example, when an environment isn't good for you.

It only tells you what is right in this moment. It makes no forecast, and any long-term commitment remains a guess at first. That's why it is considered fitting not to commit sooner than you need to, to decide only when it can't be avoided, and to regularly reexamine contracts and activities alike.

Following this quiet sense takes courage, because to the people around you and to your own mind it can seem erratic or impossible to explain.

A 14-day experiment

For 14 days, pay attention to your very first impulse when making small decisions, and write it down right away in one sentence. In the evening, also note when no impulse came or when it didn't match what you ended up doing.
