Channel 7-31: The Channel of the Alpha
This is the channel of leadership: it leads with logic and structure toward a future that can be foreseen. This channel leads with a mandate. The idea is that the group chooses you or asks you to lead, and only that recognition makes the leadership effective. It's also typical of this channel that you can end up in a visible role even when you only wanted to be part of things; your presence can bring order to a group. Whoever sets the direction doesn't have to do everything themselves. Much like a general, you say where things are headed, and others carry it out. Here, leading is a natural capacity and not an obligation. In the wrong roles, ones you get pushed into, a sense of meaninglessness can set in, while leadership you are invited into can accomplish a great deal. The channel strongly conditions others, and its effect is very powerful, for better and for worse.
The two gates
Gate 7: The Gate of the Role of the Self
Who gives others direction? Gate 7 stands for this kind of leadership.
Gate 31: The Gate of Leading
Leading through influence is the theme of Gate 31. Your influence works mainly through the spoken word rather than through your own actions.
The two centers
When this channel is defined, both centers are defined.
G Center
Your identity and direction stay steady, even when your surroundings change.
Throat Center
The way you express yourself is consistent, and how it sounds depends on what your Throat is connected to.
